This was really lovely to hear . Also you teach in such a way that one feels encouraged to play oneself. Thanks for this vid. Tabs chart is are given and that is great help. I must say you are magician teacher.
Very good. This is essentially of course Robert Johnson ‘s Love in Vain at least to start with so you can sing along! but played convincingly in standard tuning
very clever.many thanks
Hi Griff, I really enjoyed this last series of acoustic blues videos especially the theory part I find that very interesting and I feel that things just make more sense now. Down to the station is a great song and a bit challenging to me as I’ve recently had surgery on both bands, but I continue to plug away. Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the great work.
It’s always so great to see and hear what the final product sounds like. So many times when I am trying to learn a new song from a song sheet or a book I never know if I have the song sounding the way is should. Thanks again for all you do for us. Excellent! I really do appreciate all the extras you give us. Leo
Great lesson, blues for the lone home guitar player that when replicated to a reasonable standard gives you the pleasure of sounding like you know what your doing for a change.
I love songs that have great opening riffs and this song certainly has that, so I have already worked on it for an hour, have it memorized, and now I am working on the counting, so I go slow with the counting and slowly speed it up. I love great riffs during the song too. This is good stuff, for sure. I must comment on your use of video. I would love to know how you got the tab to run across the screen as you were doing this. You have real expertise in video too.
Paul
This will be my first song to try to play. I am very much encouraged by your technique and i feel assured to do it correctly . Great teaching Boss . Thanks Griff for this .
Please make us learn more on shorter songs to become better day by day .
Griff – Your ability to count with your playing is not only extremely helpful but amazing. My BIGGESTweakness in soloing is keeping track of the bars (or if not soloing, the band). Even with your now-famous 4-note song, which I know by heart, it took me a long time to end up at the right places in terms of chord changes and turn-around. Brian
Hi Griff a great song easily written with simple chords that even I can play with my limited experience and some great turnarounds great fan for a couple of years. l think the best yet
Thanks for all the free videos Griff.
I’m not a beginner by any means but I still enjoy your free videos.
Thanks for all your hard work and I hope you keep providing free videos, “down to the station” is great. All the best.
Griff…I taught myself to play Honky Tonk, Roadrunner and Hideaway by ear and using no pick 60 years ago. Then maybe a few more chords that sounded good to me to play rhythm guitar. Then a few pathetic and sporadic attempts to go further but without much success.
I am now trying to master Down to the Station to fill in a lot of blanks. Thanx for the info and inspiration you have given me to get back on the horse again after being thrown many, many times…!!!
